Organic farming


The products coming from organic farming must be cultivated with completely natural methods, without the aid of chemical products. Only organic fertilizers may be used, and pesticides, insecticides or other such products may not be used on vegetables and fruit trees for any reason. This guarantees the goodness of the vegetable that is eventually purchased by the consumer, and reduces environmental pollution. Organic farming therefore relies heavily on crop rotation: in each soil different vegetables are grown each year, thus ensuring that they help to fertilize the soil and not impoverish it with nutrients and mineral salts. Sowing and fertilizing



Fertilization is an important part of the growth of organic tomatoes: first of all, with the initial preparation of the soil, which must guarantee the plant the nutrients it needs for its development. After digging, mineral fertilizers coming from chemical processes will therefore be absolutely forbidden: only organic fertilizers are allowed, such as manure (which is however recommended in this phase of cultivation, even in the case of non-organic farming). Usually, in organic farming, we prefer to plant the seedlings in the seedbed, and then transfer them to the prepared soil: this is because in the open field it is more difficult to control the development of weeds, to eliminate them in time. The seedbed can be made with simple soil, spraying non-calcareous water on its surface. Fertilization is a delicate operation, as the dictates of organic farming do not follow those of traditional agriculture. The digging in the soil preparation phase must not be too deep: otherwise, the deeper layer of the earth would end up in depth. Tomato cultivation is indicated for the control of weeds, which tend to grow less next to this type of plants. This will not only prepare the soil for subsequent cultivation (the operation of using cultivated vegetables as remedies and fertilizers is called "green manure"), but will also avoid the use of many chemical products. If there is a need to fertilize when the tomatoes begin to grow and become thicker, then manure, manure or another organic fertilizer must be used.

Diseases and weeds



One of the most common problems faced by farmers dealing with organic products is the largest number of diseases that affect vegetables. This is of course due to the fact that the use of chemicals in advance, such as insecticides, pesticides and fungicides, is not permitted. The farmer's challenge is to find natural healing products, which reflect the rules of organic farming, but which are effective in fighting diseases and pests. At the moment, the main problems are caused by fungi, to fight which are used products based on copper (like the classic coppery), which are forbidden in organic farming. Weed control can be done effectively only by alternating crops: another method, often used for growing these vegetables, is called "false seeding". It consists in sowing the tomatoes and then returning to work the soil once the first weeds have appeared, then preparing again to plant the seedlings in the meantime sprouting in the seedbed. Once the seedlings are planted, it is good to carry out a weeding operation with a special rake after about ten days, even if there are no weeds: in this way, we will eliminate potential pests that still have to sprout. Another important point is that of irrigation: it is recommended not to wet the plants when administering the water, which must be dropped only on the ground. Wet plants are more prone to attack by molds and parasites, which then we could not eradicate accurately.

Organic tomatoes: Use



To eat organic tomatoes It is recommended, as they are rich in nutrients, much more than vegetables grown in the traditional way. Due to these characteristics, the tomato was considered a "food-drug": it contains a high quantity of potassium, calcium, zinc and phosphorus. All mineral substances able to bring benefits to our health, which non-biologically grown tomatoes do not possess in such quantities. So if there is the possibility of choosing, when shopping, it is preferable to look for organically grown tomatoes in the fruit and vegetable section. In which there are no chemical agents: another health benefit.
