Tomato "French Grove": variety description

Despite the markedly foreign name, the French Grozdevoy variety was bred in Siberia. Tomatoes can be grown indoors or outdoors. In greenhouses, fruiting will last until frost. French Grozdevoy is a high-yielding medium late variety. Determinate bush, reaches 1-1.5 m in height. Side shoots are formed slightly, so pinching is not required.

Fruits are collected in bunches of 10-20 pieces; in the middle lane, they fully ripen in August. Subject to the rules of watering and feeding, fruiting is abundant, up to 20 kg of tomatoes can be harvested per season in a bush.

Among the main advantages of the variety:

  • high productivity;
  • excellent taste of fruits;
  • undemanding care;
  • beautiful fruit appearance, ideal for canning;
  • good keeping quality.

There are practically no shortcomings in the variety. Gardeners consider the only drawback to be relatively late ripening. When grown outdoors, tomatoes have to be picked green and brought to ripeness at home.

Growing features

Seeds are sown for seedlings in March. It is advisable to use the same soil in which adult tomatoes will grow. The ideal option is a mixture of garden soil and humus. For greater safety, the soil is recommended to be sieved and calcined.

Seeds germinate under a film; for the speedy development, abundant sunlight or supplementary lighting with electric lamps is required. Moderate watering, it is better to spray young seedlings from a spray bottle... The pick is carried out after the first real sheet has been unfolded. After transplanting into new pots, the seedlings are fed with an aqueous solution of mineral fertilizers based on potassium and phosphorus.

Seedlings are transplanted into the greenhouse in the first half of May, plants are planted in open ground later, closer to the beginning of June. With this scheme, the first fruits are tied at the end of June. Immediately after planting, young plants are tied to strong stakes or trellises.

Requires abundant, but not too frequent watering with warm water. Root dressing with alternating complex mineral and organic fertilizers is recommended. The soil under the tomatoes is loosened weekly. Mulching with peat, humus or straw will help to maintain a normal level of humidity.

Pests and diseases

The variety is quite resistant to disease. However, for preventive purposes, it is worth regularly spraying the bushes with an aqueous solution of antifungal and antiviral bio-preparations. Frequent ventilation in the greenhouse will help protect plants from late blight, gray and white rot. It is best to ventilate immediately after watering, so as not to create an excessively humid atmosphere in the shelter.

Spraying with an aqueous solution of ammonia or infusion of herbs: yarrow, chamomile, celandine will help protect plants from pests.

French Grozdevoy is a great variety for beginner gardeners. There are no failures with him, only proper watering, feeding and timely attachment to a solid support are required. It is better to plant the plant in a greenhouse, this guarantees a bountiful harvest and protects the bushes from pests and diseases.
