Question: after pruning
after pruning fruit trees should the trunk and branches be disinfected?

Answer: after pruning
Dear Giovanna,
often the cuts due to pruning act as entrance doors for bacteria, insects, viruses, parasites, since the plant is completely defenseless in the areas of "bare" wood, especially if the cuts involve large branches.
For this reason it is always good to use disinfected and well cleaned tools, to avoid transmitting diseases from one tree to another. In addition to this it is advisable to cover the wounds caused by cutting with a special mastic, which covers the uncovered wood and has a fungicidal action.
