People knew about the healing properties of horseradish for a long time, so they prepared not only seasonings from it, but also various medicines, decoctions and tinctures.

The most popular has always been the so-called "hrenovukha" among the people, which was famous for its healing qualities.

Depending on the method of preparation of the product, the frequency and correctness of its use, it could be beneficial or harmful, therefore experts have always advised to follow a number of rules to obtain the desired therapeutic result.

The benefits and harms of horseradish tincture

Horseradish tincture differs from many others in its antibacterial properties and rich chemical composition.

The beneficial substances contained in it have the following effect on the body:

  • vitamins of group C strengthen the immune system and prevent the risk of developing deficiency conditions;
  • tannins improve the functioning of the digestive system, cleanse the intestines;
  • B vitamins stimulate mental activity and metabolic processes in the body;
  • carbohydrates, as a source of energy, contribute to the rapid recovery of the body after an illness or a long course of treatment;
  • flavonoids, fiber and ash neutralize free radicals, prevent the risk of developing cancer, reduce the likelihood of poisoning with decay products;
  • mustard oil acts as a catalyst for chemical and biological processes, and is also one of the strongest antioxidants.

In addition, the rich mineral complex of horseradish roots and leaves (iron, sodium, calcium, copper, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine) remains unchanged even after heat treatment. The plant sap contains riboflavin, myrosin, starch, fats, thiamine, proteins, resinous substances, ascorbic acid, fiber, phytoncides, mono- and disaccharides.

The alcohol added during the preparation of the tincture is the optimal environment, acting on the principle of a preservative. A water-based product will lose its healing properties within a few days, even if stored in a hermetically sealed container.
